I interviewed Austin Getz, the lead singer of the pop punk / dream pop / jazz-inspired group Turnover, about their latest album Altogether. For this project, I explored the inspirations for the album, while getting sidetracked by a conversation about jazz and the intricacies of the human experience when it relates to music.
This article humanizes a popular figure in current music, while showing that preconceived notions of what someone or something should sound like are not always the most accurate.
FEATURES
I interviewed Ned Russin, previously of the heavily-influential emo / hardcore / punk group Title Fight, about his new band Glitterer. For this project, I explored the concepts behind Glitterer and Russin, expanding on the ideals and imagery that motivated him to write and create as manifested on the album.
This article talks about the ideologies behind Ned Russin and Glitterer, and dives into the personal struggles Russin faces as a progressive mind trying to move forward while facing a lot of worldly obstacles.
PREMIERES
I premiered the video for the track “bed” from the new album by emo supergroup Bad Heaven Ltd. The premiere included a Q&A session with the lead singer, John Galm (Snowing), about the inspiration behind the track and album. The interview explores crippling anxiety and depression, and how it manifests differently through all sorts of different people.
This article talks about the effects of mental illness on musicians and people, and how that translates into a video, song or concept.

I wrote an interview feature for FLOOD Magazine about the emo rap/witch house artist Adam McIlwee, known as Wicca Phase Spring Eternal. For this project, I researched Wicca Phase Springs Eternal. Adam McIlwee started as the singer for pop punk group Tigers Jaw, but left to join the influential group THRAXXHOUSE. He is also the brains behind Gothboiclique, a music and arts collective made up of artists such as the late Lil Peep, Horsehead, Lil Tracy, and many others. I interviewed McIlwee and discussed his new album Suffer On, along with a few other things.

I wrote an interview feature for FLOOD Magazine about post-hardcore group La Dispute from Grand Rapids, Michigan. For this piece I dived into the discography of the band, as well as previous interviews and interactions across media. I spoke with lead singer Jordan Dreyer about his personal involvement in the band, how his experiences directly (and indirectly) relay to the music, and a few other things.
This article talks about how Dreyer got to where he is now, and where he plans to go in the future.
